Mind-Body Therapy

The mind and body are not separate.

They communicate with each other all the time. To help you free yourself from obstacles on your path, we will work with all of you – mind, body and spirit.

Among the techniques we may use in addition to talk are:

  • EMDR
  • EFT (tapping)
  • Mindfulness
  • Relaxation Training
  • Hypnosis and Imagery

What we choose depends on you, your preferences and your needs.

When anxiety takes over…

You have to give a presentation at work. You think you are prepared and just as smart as anyone in the room.

As the time for you to speak approaches, your heart begins to race. Your hands shake, and you are aware of changes in the way you are breathing.

Within your body, outside of your awareness, an entire drama is occurring. Your digestion slows, your blood vessels constrict. You are flooded with cortisol.

Your body is behaving as it was programmed to do eons ago. It is preparing you for a physical fight. It is as though you were about to fight a tiger, and yet the only tiger in this scenario is your fear.

What is most frustrating is that the words in your head keep saying you should not be nervous. Your body seems to have its own opinion.

You can’t talk yourself out of these feelings – at least not all the way.

Before the presentation, you told yourself that you would do a good job – and yet your body reacted with anxiety. You couldn’t talk yourself into calm.

Now, the presentation is over. Your colleagues have said they liked it, but you are worried. What did people really think? How did you really come across?

You play these worries over and over in your mind. You can’t talk yourself out of your worries. Your body remains tense. It is hard to sleep. Your neck and shoulders are tight, and your head aches.

Mind-Body Therapy can help

Mind-body therapy goes to the heart of what is troubling you. It helps your mind communicate with your body to understand the messages your body is sending.

You become more aware of your reactions and more in charge of how you feel and what you do.

You may not have anxiety reactions as in the scenario above. You may be having self-esteem issues, struggles with a relationship, or problems adjusting to a new situation.

You may be dealing with a loss, the challenges of aging, or stress-related physical symptoms such as headaches, digestive issues, or hypertension.

Mind-body therapy can help you find relief regardless of the issue. It goes below the chatter of the mind to help you become aware of your thoughts and beliefs – and make changes.

You will know the change has occurred when you feel the shift in all of you: your mind, your body and your spirit.
